Aalok Mehta - Participant

Aalok Mehta is a doctoral student in communication at the Annenberg School of Communication & Journalism at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. His research focuses on telecommunications, broadband, spectrum, and internet policy, as well as on the social implications of new communications technologies. He is also receiving a master's degree in public policy from USC's Sol Price School of Public Policy, and has served as a research and policy fellow at Free Press and the New America Foundation's Open Technology Institute.

Prior to arriving at USC, Aalok worked as a science reporter and editor in Washington
D.C., serving as a staff reporter and editor at the American Chemical Society, as an online homepage news producer at the Washington Post, as an online news editor at the National Geographic Society, and as a Web reporter for the Dana Foundation. He also has experience as a freelance consultant or writer for the Society for Neuroscience, the Endocrine Society, Silent Spring Institute, the Washington Post, and other clients. He received his bachelor's degree in biochemistry, in biology, and in philosophy from Rice University in Houston.
